Representatives from Let's Go! - an organization dedicated to healthy kids - talk about the importance of Screen Free Week 207
TV Turnoff Week has transformed. What started 20 years ago as a way to break the television habit has turned into a movement to draw attention to how humans look at screens of all types- from TVs to computers to smartphones and tablets.
Doctors say there is a clear correlation between spending too much time looking at screens and obesity. And it has also been linked to falling grades, trouble keeping attention and sleep disorders.
So TV Turnoff Week is now Screen Free Week.
In Maine, the organization Let's Go! works to prevent childhood obesity and to promote an active and healthy lifestyle among kids. They've got a simple message that they believe will help establish healthy habits at a young age. That message is: 5-2-1-0.
