35th annual 'Turkey Trot' draws hundreds

PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Hundreds of people started off their Thanksgiving morning running 4 miles, burning the calories they will eat later on in the day.

Portland's 35th annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot kicked off Thursday morning in the downtown area. Ben Decker of Yarmouth won the race, completing it in 20 minutes. Scarborough's Erica Jesseman was the top female finisher, crossing the finish line first at 22 minutes and 14 seconds.

A portion of the money raised from Thursday's event goes to the St. Patrick's Secondary School in Kenya, the Rafiki Foundation, and Partners for World Health.
