Pirates' late letdown leads to OT loss at Manchester

MANCHESTER, N.H. (NEWS CENTER) - Lucas Lessio scored his first professional hat-trick was soured after the Portland Pirates allowed a game-tying goal with only 31 seconds left regulation with the Manchester Monarchs completing the comeback in overtime, 4-3.

Sean Back scored the game-winner for the Monarchs with 1:11 left in overtime.

Lessio scored all three of his goals in the second period as Portland led 3-1 going into the second intermission.

The score remained that way until 1:43 left in regulation when Jordan Weal scored two goals in 1:12 seconds to tie the game at 3.

Portland (24-34-3-8) gained a point in the loss. They're two points from the bottom of the AHL standings.

The Pirates next game is Sunday at 3:05 p.m. at Providence.
