Sea Dogs lose first game of 2014

READING, Pennsylvania (NEWS CENTER) - After winning their first two games of the season, the Portland Sea Dogs lost for the first time in 2014, 3-2 at Reading.

Portland jumped out to a 2-0 lead after their first two at bats thanks to a Travis Shaw RBI single scoring Mookie Betts in the first and Stefan Welch's sacrifice fly plating Blake Swihart in the second, but Edgar Duran's two run double in the bottom half of the second tied the game 2-2.

The scored stayed that way until Kelly Dugan's RBI single in the seventh drove in Cam Perkans for the game-winning run.

Starter Miguel Pena lasted only three innings for Portland allowing only two runs on four hits and two walks with two strikeouts. Nathan Reed (0-1) took the loss for Portland.

The Sea Dogs will wrap up their four-game series with the Fightin' Phils on Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 1:35 p.m.
