Red Sox fall to Indians in 11, settle for series split

BOSTON (NEWS CENTER) - For the second straight day the Red Sox lost to the Cleveland Indians by a 3-2 final, only on Sunday it took the Tribe 11 innings to beat Boston salvage a series split.

It was also the last meeting between the two this season with the Cleveland winning five of seven.

Nick Swisher broke the tie in the 11th with a solo home run off Junichi Tazawa (L, 1-1). Cody Allen (W, 3-1) pitched two perfect innings to pick up the win.

David Ortiz and Dustin Pedroia drove in both runs for the Sox (31-38), who now trail the Blue Jays by nine games in the standings.

Boston will continue their homestand as they'll host the Twins for three games starting on Monday. Rubby De La Rosa will get the start for the Red Sox (1-2, 3.93) while Minnesota will send Kevin Correia to the hill.
