ORONO, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- After weeks of waiting, the University of Maine softball team finally got to play in front of the home crowd, and boy did they have a beautiful day for it. The 13-11 Black Bears hosted conference rivals the Retrievers from UMBC for the first game of a three game series.
Fryeburg's Hannah Hill got 6 strike outs on the day for Maine, but it wasn't enough to top the Retrievers. The Black Bears fell to UMBC 3-0. The two teams will meet again tomorrow for so double header action in Orono beginning at noon.
