Brunswick football beats Kennebunk in Class B State Championship

Class 'B' Championship: Brunswick vs. Kennebunk

ORONO, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The Brunswick Dragons and Kennebunk Rams kicked off Gold Ball weekend Friday night in Orono with the Class B State Championship football game.

Senior running back Ben Palizay scored two touchdowns for the Dragons to help end a state title drought that dates back to the 1960's as Brunswick went on to beat Kennebunk 28-6.

Brunswick last won a state title in 1963, a tie against Madison. It won the gold ball in 1961 as well.

The Dragons had lost in the state title game the past two seasons.
