SOCHI, Russia (NEWS CENTER) - A trio of Portland Pirates alums won Olympic gold with Team Canada while two others had to settle for silver with Sweden.
Pittsburgh Penguins forward Chris Kunitz, who scored team Canada's third goal in their 3-0 victory, was joined by fellow forwards Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf in victory. Kunitz, Perry, and Getzlaf were all teammates with the Pirates and Anaheim Ducks during the 2005-06 season. Perry and Getzlaf remain Ducks to this day.
More recent Pirates: Phoenix Coyotes defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson (2012-13) and Buffalo Sabres goalie Jhonas Enroth (2010-11) were on the wrong end of Sunday's result.
