BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Three weeks after winning back-to-back games for the first time in the 2013-14 season, the UMaine men's basketball finds team is mired in another lenghty losing streak after Sunday's loss to Stony Brook, 83-79.
It's the third such string of losses this season: a 10-game losing streak from Nov. 12th to Dec. 29th and a 6-game skid from Jan. 9th to the 29th.
The Black Bears outshot the reigning America East Champs from the field (52.8% to 45.5%) but lost the rebounding battle (37-30) and commited more turnover (15-9).
Sophomore forward Till Gloger and junior guard Xavier Pollard each scored 21 points to lead UMaine.
The Black Bears are now 5-21 overall on the season with a 3-11 record in league play. Their next game will be at UMass-Lowell on Thursday before their regular season finale next Sunday at the Cross Insurance Center against rivals New Hampshire
