Maine hockey still winless on the road

BURLINGTON, Vt. --The University of Maine men's ice hockey team dropped a 5-2 decision to Vermont on Saturday night at Gutterson Fieldhouse in Burlington, Vt. Maine pulled to within one goal at 3-2 late in the third period, but a pair of empty-net goals by the Catamounts made it a 5-2 final. The Black Bears fall to 6-6-1 on the season with the loss, while Vermont improves to 7-5-1. 

Vermont finished the game with a 30-26 edge in shots on goal. Maine finished 0-for-4 on the power play, while Vermont converted one of its five opportunities.

Martin Ouellette made 25 saves in goal for the Black Bears and falls to 6-6-1 on the season. Santaguide made 24 saves for the Catamounts and improves to 5-3-1.

Maine returns to action on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 4 PM at Alfond Arena when it hosts UMass Lowell. The game date and time were changed last week.
