UMaine football wins season opener at Norfolk State

NORFOLK, Virginia (NEWS CENTER) - The University of Maine football team jumped out to an early lead in their regular season opener and never looked back as they beat Norfolk State 23-6. 

The Black Bears led 13-0 midway through the second quarter preserving a 13-6 halftime lead. 

Halfway through the 3rd, senior quarterback Marcus Wasilewski and Zedric Joseph hooked up for an 85-yard touchdown that put UMaine up for good. 

Wasilewski was 15-of-28 for 209 yards a touchdown and interception.  He alsoran for an additional 59 yards. 

The Black Bears will be on the road again for the second game when they travel to Gillette Stadium to take on the UMASS for a 2 p.m. kickoff on Saturday September 7th.
