BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- There was a familiar face on the links in Eastern Maine in July. Bangor native Jesse Speirs made his return to Bangor to play in the Greater Bangor Open and the Maine Open in Augusta, while on break from the PGA Canadian Tour.
He tied for 21st in the GBO and was just one stroke behind the winner of the Maine Open. The 26 year old spends a lot of time on the road. He played on the Canadian Tour last year as well and says it's a lot like playing in New England when it comes to style and weather. But according to Speirs, it's always nice to come home.
"Seeing my friends and guys that I grew up playing high school golf with - it's a lot of fun to see them and even the guys at the club here," he says, "A lot of good memories and good people and I always enjoy coming back here and seeing everyone."
Speirs gets a little time off now before heading back to Canada for the rest of the season.
