Biddeford, ME (NEWS CENTER) - The 2013 Lobster Bowl hung in the balance under the threat of severe weather coming through Maine Saturday afternoon. Fortunately for the thousands of fans and over 100 football players, cheerleaders and coaches, the weather held off and a GREAT game went off without a hitch.
The East All-Stars took home the trophy with a 28-13 victory over the West Squad at Waterhouse Field in Biddeford. East MVP, Mt. Blue quarterback Jordan Whitney threw for 2 TD's while Fitzpatrick Trophy winner, Cheverus's Donald Goodrich finished his high school football career by taking home the West MVP.
Alex Shain broke a Lobster Bowl record TD run by blasting off a 75 yarder in the 3rd quarter. That was not the only record set on Saturday. The All-Star Football player and cheerleading squads raised over $96,000 for the Shriners Hospitals for Children. That marks an almost $20,000 increase over the previous record. Congratulations to all the players, coaches and cheerleaders involved in closing out the 2013 high school sports season in a special way.
