Hamburg, Germany (Sports Network) - Argentinian qualifier Federico Delbonis
stunned four-time champion Roger Federer in Saturday's semifinals at the
$1.44 million German Open Tennis Championships.
Delbonis took down Federer by a 7-6 (9-7), 7-6 (7-4) margin to reach his first
career ATP World Tour final.
The 22-year-old Delbonis will play 12th-seeded Italian Fabio Fognini in
Sunday's title match. Fognini beat third-seeded Spaniard Nicolas Almagro 6-4,
7-6 (7-1) in the other semifinal match.
Fognini nailed down his maiden ATP championship in Stuttgart last week and is
riding a nine-match winning streak.
The 2013 Hamburg titlist will earn $328,000.
The Sports Network
