Pirates facing elimination after sweep in Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NEWS CENTER) - On Sunday, it was the Pirates who fell in an early hole, only they weren't able to climb out of it as they lost 4-2 to Syracuse, falling into a 2-0 hole in their Calder Cup first-round series. 

The Pirates surrendered the first four goals of the game before Brandon Gormley scored late in the second period and Lucas Lessio added another consolation tally in the second. 

The Pirates return to the Cumberland County Civic Center for game three on Thursday needing a win in their best-of-five series to extend their season.
