(NEWS CENTER)-- Randy Small has been the boys basketball coach at York high school for the last 4 seasons. Last year, he led his team to the class 'B' Western Maine finals and was the only team to beat eventual state champion Falmouth.. Now, Small may have to fight to keep his job.
Every coach at York high school is on a one year contract and when it comes time to re-apply in May, there is a small group of parents that has organized to try and have coach Small not-reinstated as the boys basketball coach.
When word got out around the York community, the news did not go over well. A Facebook page was started called 'Keep Randy Coaching'. It reached almost 600 likes in the first 24 hours. There were also 'Keep Randy Coaching' tee-shirts made which students have been wearing around school.
Randy Small has also been the football coach at York for the last 16 years. The school committee is expected to vote on all of the coaching applications in June.
