ORONO (NEWS CENTER) - UMaine baseball pitched nine innings of shutout baseball, but couldn't muster any offense either and eventually fell in 10 innings to Stony Brook by a 1-0 final, snapping their nine-game win streak.

The loss drops the Black Bears to 24-15 on the year and 13-4 in the America East, still tops in the league.

They'll host Hartford next weekend.

The University of Maine softball team (7-34, 3-9 America East) dropped both games of a  doubleheader to Stony Brook on Sunday afternoon. The Black Bears fell in game one 4-2 before dropping game two 3-2 in 15-innings. Maine's Jean Stevens blasted her league leading 12th home run in game one to lead the Maine offense.

Game 2 was a tough pitchers dual. South Portland's Alexis Bogdanovich was tagged with the tough loss after going 9.2 innings in relief while giving up just one run on eight hits.
