Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - The Cincinnati Reds placed catcher Ryan
Hanigan on the 15-day disabled list Sunday with a strained left oblique.
Hanigan, who had been bothered by a sore right thumb for nearly two weeks,
suffered the oblique injury in the ninth inning of Friday's game against the
Miami Marlins when he reached to catch a high fastball from closer Aroldis
In 12 games this season, Hanigan has struggled at the plate, hitting just .079
To replace Hanigan, the Reds selected the contract of catcher Corky Miller
from Triple-A Louisville. Pitcher Nick Masset was transferred to the 60-day DL
to make room on the 40-man roster for Miller.
