Greensboro, NC (Sports Network) - Tierra Ruffin-Pratt had 20 points, six
assists and four steals in No. 15 North Carolina's 72-65 win over No. 10
Maryland in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament.
The Tar Heels outscored the Terrapins, 48-27 in the second half to advance to
the ACC title game where they will clash with No. 6 Duke.
Walteia Rolle registered 19 points and 11 rebounds for UNC (28-5), which has
won five of its last six tilts.
Alyssa Thomas tallied 26 points, 12 boards and five helpers for Maryland
(24-7), which took a 38-24 cushion into the break.
The Terps' Katie Rutan hit a 3-pointer to tie the game at 60-60 with 2:46 left
before the Heels outscored Maryland 12-5 the rest of the way.
Two Latifah Coleman jumpers, sandwiched around Alyssa Thomas slitting a pair
from the foul line, gave UNC a 64-61 edge with 1:45 to go. Rolle stripped
Tianna Hawkins on Maryland's ensuing trip down the floor and UNC was 8-of-10
from the charity stripe over the final minute to seal the outcome.
