Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - Blue Jackets center Artem Anisimov was released
from a Detroit hospital on Friday and is expected to return to Columbus.
Anisimov was taken out of Thursday's 3-2 win over the Red Wings at Joe Louis
Arena on a stretcher.
Early in the second period, Anisimov tripped over Detroit's Ian White and
fell to the ice. As he was falling, Detroit's Kyle Quincey also fell to the
ice and his elbow came down on the head of Anisimov. After several minutes on
the ice, his head and neck were immobilized and he was taken into the locker
room on a stretcher.
It was later announced that he was awake and responsive and had been taken to
Detroit Medical Center for further evaluation.
Anisimov has four goals and two assists in 15 games this season, his fifth in
the NHL. He returned to play on Thursday after missing the previous two games
with a foot injury.
Columbus returns to action on Saturday in St. Louis.
