Maui, HI (Sports Network) - The wind finally died down on Monday and Dustin
Johnson took advantage of the conditions at Kapalua to grab a 3-stroke lead
after two rounds at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions.
On a marathon Monday, Johnson carded rounds of 69-66 to finish the 36-hole day
at 11-under-par 135.
Johnson, the winner of the last two 54-hole PGA Tour events, will go for his
seventh PGA Tour title on Tuesday. If he does hang on for the victory, it will
mark the sixth straight year he has won on the PGA Tour.
Wind had wreaked havoc on the Plantation Course at Kapalua from Friday through
Sunday forcing officials to play 36 holes on Monday. The final round will be
on Tuesday.
Defending champion Steve Stricker shot 71-67 to end two rounds alone in second
place at 8-under-par 138. Bubba Watson is one stroke back at minus-7 after
shooting 70-69.
Keegan Bradley (69) and Brandt Snedeker (70) share fourth at 6-under-par 140.
Tommy Gainey shot 72-69 and is alone in sixth place at 5-under-par 141.
