BOISE, Idaho - Justin Holiday had 21 points, seven assists, three steals and two blocks, but his tremendous all-around effort could not stop the Maine Red Claws from beating the Idaho Stampede 108-94. Coby Karl added 16 points, seven assists and five rebounds for Idaho (1-11).
Maine's Fab Melo, on assignment from the Boston Celtics, had 32 points, nine rebounds and nine blocked shots, just a few days after his record-setting triple-double in which he had 14 blocked shots, a D-League record. DaJuan Summers had 21 points and 10 rebounds and all five starters finished in double-figures for Maine (8-4).
Justin Harper had 18 points and eight rebounds off the bench, while Seth Tarver added 11 points as a sub. Idaho led much of the tightly-contested game, as the teams had 19 lead changes and tied the game 11 times. Idaho made just 22.2 percent of its shots in the fourth quarter as they lost 30-19 in the last stanza. For the game, Maine made 27-of-29 free throws (93.1 percent) and caused 21 Stampede turnovers, which led to 25 points. The Red Claws also raced to a 15-6 advantage in fast break points. Maine won the second and fourth quarters by a combined score of 61-38.
The Red Claws continue their road swing with games at Sioux Falls Friday and Saturday night.
