NEWS CENTER-The biggest school in Eastern Maine and the most accomplished boys basketball program Bangor High School finally found their new head coach. UMaine assistant Ed Kohtala was approved by the the school board at a meeting Wednesday night.
The 1981 Umaine alum spent the past 3 seasons with the Black Bears. Other local stops in his 30 plus years of coaching, include his high school alma mater Mt. Blue and Bridgton Academy. Kohtala has also coached at the highest collegiate level as an assistant with Texas, Clemson, and Florida. He succeeds legendary coach Roger Reed, who won eight state titles in his 27 years as Rams head coach.
