PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- When Stephen Schwartz isn't in court defending clients, he spends his time on courts, fields and venues of a different kind.
Schwartz does play-by-play sports for Portland Public Schools' public access channel WPPS. What started as a way to be involved with his three son's sports teams has grown into a full-blown passion.
"It is totally for the love of the game," said Schwartz. "I like to say I am worth every penny they pay me, which is zero."
Give Schwartz a video camera and a sporting event and he's a one-man TV station. He's called dozens of games over the past two years, everything from baseball, to lacrosse, to wrestling.
"I talk for a living, I write for a living, so broadcasting and law go hand in hand," he explained. "I may be in the office till midnight the night the night that I am broadcasting a soccer game, but at least I've had the opportunity to do the game, to watch it, to broadcast it and to showcase our local kids."
