What is RSS?
Really Simple Syndication (RSS) is an XML-based format for content distribution and sharing content such as news headlines. How do Web sites use RSS?

Because they're automated, the feeds keep readers up-to-date without requiring them to subscribe to an e-mail newsletter (or expecting them to remember to visit throughout the day). Desktop software applications known as news readers or aggregators can collect, update and display RSS feeds from a wide variety of sources.
