BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Three Red Sox World Series trophies are logging some serious travel miles in the pine tree state.
On Saturday, the trophies were in Portland. On Sunday, they were on display at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.
Fans were up bright and early waiting in line to take their pictures with the 2004, 2007 and 2013 trophies. Red Sox Third Base coach and Orono-native Brian Butterfield returned home with the trophies and received quite the ovation from fans.
"That's flattering when you come back here it's a great region to grow up in, Orono, and a lot of great people in the state of Maine and a lot of great people in this area. When they asked me to come up here I came running," said Butterfield.
After spending a couple of hours in Bangor, the trophies then headed up I-95 to Butterfield's home town where they were on display at Alfond Arena at the University of Maine.
