PORTSMOUTH, New Hampshire (NEWS CENTER) - Police in Portsmouth say a woman was drunk when she took an eight year old girl with her to the library and started yelling and making a scene.
Ann Devine was arrested around 2:00 PM Saturday.
Police had been called to the library for a report of a woman "acting in a dazed state and having outbursts," according to a police report.
When police arrived, they say Devine tried to convince the eight year old to lie about who her parents are.
Devine is not related to the child, who was not physically harmed in the incident. The girl's parents are not facing charges.
Devine is facing charges of endangering the welfare of a child and breach of bail for a previous arrest.
