BRUNSWICK, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Brunswick Police apprehended a bank robbery suspect as he was exiting the Bank of America on Monday.
Brunswick Police Communications Officer Emily McDorr says, on the station's Facebook page, she received a call from a teller inside the Bank of America indicating they were currently being robbed. The teller provided a description of the suspect, and then stayed on the phone with CO McDorr while the incident continued.
Meanwhile officers, Sgt. Russ Wrede, and Officer Dan Sylvain, responded to the scene and confronted the lone male suspect as he exited the Bank of America.
Officials say Raymond D. Leavitt was apprehended just a few feet from the front door as he attempted to flee the scene.
Officers say they took Leavitt into custody within three minutes from the time of the initial call to the Brunswick Police Department. Brunswick PD says great job to all officers and Bank of Amercia employees that were involved in this apprehension.
