PORTLAND, ME - The search is over for Charles Harlow. The 71 year old former state representative was found safe and healthy at approximately 6:30 Sunday morning. Portland Police report Harlow was found at a business off the Riverside Parkway in Portland.
Harlow was returned to his family healthy after a thorough examination by MEDCU.
Harlow suffers from dementia and was reported missing by family members after he went for a walk around 4:30 Saturday and did not return. Because of his medical condition he was considered missing and endangered. A n overnight large scale coordinated search by the Portland Police, Portland Fire and the Maine Warden Service helped locate Harlow Sunday morning.
Mr. Harlow is believed to have walked along wooded trails in the Riverton area, eventually entering a building on Milliken Road where workers found him this morning.
Charles Harlow has spent the latter part of his life serving the citizens of Greater Portland. He served on the Portland City Council from 1990 through 1999, serving as Mayor from 1992 to 1993. Harlow also represented the 116th District in the Maine House from 2004 to 2010.
