WEST PARIS, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Firefighters battled a large barn fire on the property of Pinnacle Mountain Inn.
When firefighters arrived the barn was fully engulfed in flames. Once the fire was under control, crews burned the remaining propane in a 500 pound tank that had been inside the barn. Firefighters had managed to keep it cool enough to prevent an explosion.
The fire also spread into the woods at one point, but crews got it under control and the Maine Forest Service was on scene to monitor the situation.
The Inn's owner, John LemMon is no stranger to first responders. After spending years as a firefighter himself, LemMon hosted a holiday party last December for the first responders in Oxford County.
Firefighters have yet to determine what caused the fire. The state fire marshal's office is investigating.
