Hampton, NH (NEWS CENTER) -- A 48-year old woman from Hampton has been arrested in connection with a weekend car crash that killed two cyclists from Massachusetts.
Police say Cindy Sheppard supplied Darriean Hess with a controlled drug the night before the crash and that morning allowed her to drive, knowing Hess did not have a license.
Police say 19-year old Hess of Seabrook was driving too fast and without a license when she plowed into a group of cyclists on an annual ride in Hampton on Saturday. Two riders died and two were injured. Hess was charged with two counts of negligent homicide and two counts of assault, all felonies carrying a maximum of seven years in prison upon conviction.
Sheppard is due in court tomorrow to face charges of selling a controlled or narcotic drug and allowing an improper person to operate.
