PITTSTON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- State police say the body of a young man found in the Kennebec River Saturday afternoon is likely a man who has been missing for the past week.
The body of the central Maine man was found by nearby residents off of Smith Town Road in Pittston.
Police said an autopsy was performed Sunday afternoon on the man at the Maine State Medical Examiner's Office in Augusta. The results showed no signs of foul play.
State Police Spokesman Steve McCausland said a missing person report was filed by the Kennebec County Sheriff's Office on September 11th for the man, who is in his twenties and was last seen in Waterville.
The man's name hasn't been released as police are working to notify relatives.
