AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - Maine residents concerned about proposed changes to Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance will have a chance to speak this week.
The Bureau of Insurance is holding a hearing on Monday at the Cross State Office Building in Augusta on the insurance proposal which would transfer individual policy holders into a network with MaineHealth providers.
Anthem's partnership with MaineHealth would exclude six Maine hospitals, including Lewiston's Central Maine Medical Center, Bridgton Hospital and Parkview Adventist Medical Center in Brunswick.
That means that some individual policy holders would no longer be able to see doctors there, which opponents say would force them to drive farther for care.
The bureau has held several public hearings throughout the state on the proposal, which has drawn hundreds of people to voice their concerns.
