PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - A Maine man has pleaded guilty to charges of kidnapping a man who was selling a car and stashing him in the car's trunk during a trip to Delaware.
Federal prosecutors say 29-year-old Travis Landry of Surry changed his plea on Wednesday to charges of interstate kidnapping and brandishing a firearm related to the kidnapping.
Law enforcement authorities say 19-year-old Alexander Filatov of Gorham was trying to sell his 2004 BMW on Craigslist when he met a potential buyer - Landry - and together they went for a test drive. Court records say after the test drive, Landry ordered the man into the trunk and showed a handgun. Police say the victim was freed in Delaware and Landry was arrested May 7 in North Carolina after a high-speed chase.
