LABELLE, Florida (WBBH) -- Hundreds attended prayer services Wednesday for 12-year-old Zachary Reyna, who is fighting a rare and deadly infection.
He contracted the infection while knee-boarding in warm, fresh water with friends outside his LaBelle, Florida home.
Experts say others who have been diagnosed with Primary Amoebic Meningoencephalitis, or PAM, have only survived one or two days; Zachary has been fighting for more than a week.
Only three others are known to survive the infection. Zachary's family and friends are hoping he'll be the fourth.
