BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- St. John's Church in Bangor will hold prayer services, called Vespers, at 7:00 PM each night for as long as the papal conclave continues.
Catholics who attend these services will say the same evening prayers that the cardinals are reciting while they meet to elect a new pope.
Father Seamus Griesbach says this is a way for Catholics from Bangor to connect spiritually with Catholics around the world.
"Well really as Catholics we see the events of the conclave first and foremost in a spiritual sense, and so our goal is to try and unite to that, and we do that principally through prayer," said Father Seamus.
