DAYTON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - The York County Sheriff's Department is investigating why a man was at his workplace after-hours when he plunged to his death.

Around 8:30 Wednesday night, deputies responded to Dayton Sand and Gravel for a man who was injured.

That man, 41 year old Shawn Hutchins of Dayton,  had fallen about 80-feet from a lift.

Deputies say the plant was not in operation at the time but that Hutchins was an employee there.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.
