BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- Bangor Police said one person was found dead inside a home at 49 Bolling Drive in Bangor following the report of a domestic incident at the home.
Bangor Police Sgt. Paul Edwards said a call came in around 2 pm. A woman left the home following a report of a domestic disturbance and then thought she heard a gunshot when she was leaving.
The Special Response Team eventually arrived at the scene. After going into the home authorities said they found one person dead on the upstairs level of the house.
The homes surrounding 49 Bolling Drive were evacuated and kids from those homes were dropped off at a different location after school. Earlier this evening, residents were allowed to go back to their homes.
"They were evacuated; houses were evacuated as normal, school kids were dropped off at a different point. They're with their families and this area is now free and clear to be moved back into by those residents who were asked to leave," Sgt. Edwards said.
Edwards said the case is now deemed an unattended death and the department's Criminal Investigation's Division is investigating. Police will not identify the body until confirmation is made by the Maine State Medical Examiner's Office and next of kin can be notified.
