SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- As the temperatures drop, it's a good time to remember our fellow Mainers who sometimes have to choose between their heating bill and putting food on the table.
Good Shepherd Food Bank held a food drive at the Maine Mall on Saturday to collect donations for some of those currently struggling.
Families could drop off donations, while taking their children to see Santa, and get some milk and cookies.
Good Shepherd president, Kristen Miale says some of the food banks they work with have reported a huge increase in the number of people they've been helping over the years -- in some cases, they're feeding up to 75% more families.
