LEWISTON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- After less than a year and a half in business, Lewiston's Baxter Brewing Company is expanding.

The company held a ceremonial groundbreaking Monday morning. Baxter's President, Luke Livingston, says production will be increased by 400 percent, and 15 to 20 new jobs will be added to the Lewiston facility. Baxter plans to brew 24 hours a day, 5 to 6 days a week, and produce a little over a million gallons of beer a year.

Livingston said, "Our orders have been 3 times greater than the amount of beer we're able to produce at the moment. So there are a lot of Mainers that are unfortunately very thirsty."

Baxter right now sells its beer in Maine and Massachusetts. It hopes to expand to New Hampshire and Vermont soon.
