SACO, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Representatives from more than a dozen Maine businesses will be joining Governor LePage on a trade mission to China.

One of those business leaders is from Saco based Yale Cordage. Workers have been turning out high performance rope products for years. They are used in research products deep below the ocean surface, underground in coal mines or high above ground on power line projects.

But only 15-percent of the company's business is conducted outside of the country. The company's president wants to expand that.

"We all hear the term it's a global market and it certainly is and we have to be aware of what the competition is around the world and also what the opportunities are to sell our products in different parts of the world", said Bill Putnam.

The country is in the middle of major utility construction work, one of the biggest fields where Yale Cordage's products are used. The delegation leaves Maine early Saturday morning and will spend time in Hong Kong and Shanghai.
