LIVERMORE, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A toddler is being treated for facial injuries from an ATV crash in Livermore.
The two-and-a-half-year-old girl was a passenger on the machine being driven by her father, John Walker, 25.
They were cruising down a dirt track along the Androscoggin River on Monday afternoon when Walker slowed down as he came to a corner. As he hit the throttle to speed up again, game wardens say the lever got stuck causing them to lurch forward.
Both Walker and his daughter were thrown off the machine into a tree. The little girl was not wearing a helmet and suffered injuries to her face. An emergency helicopter was called in and flew her to Maine Medical Center Portland.
Walker was also sent to the hospital with a leg injury.
