NEW PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Sheriff's Deputies in Somerset county say that speed and alcohol are likely factors in a crash that left one man dead, and two more people seriously injured.

It happened Friday night around 9:30 on the Wire Bridge Road in New Portland.

Deputies say that Ryan Nile was driving too fast when his Chevy Corsica left the road and slammed into a tree head on, narrowly avoiding a home.

Nile died in the crash.

His passengers, Nichole Nichols and Christopher Woodard, were severely injured... Nichols was taken by Life Flight to Eastern Maine Medical Center. An ambulance took Woodard first to Franklin Memorial Hospital. He was then transferred to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
