HOPKINSVILLE, Kentucky (WSMV) -- Hopkinsville, Kentucky grandmother is behind bars, accused of stealing big-ticket items from her neighbor and using her own grandchildren to pull off the crime. Now, the grandmother's firing back, saying she's the victim of a lie.
"I felt bad, and I felt stupid for trying to help a person and then it come back to bite me this way," said Sharon Owens.
Sitting in the Christian County Jail, Owens claimed her good name's being ruined.
"I'm not a thief," said Owens. "I'm not going to steal something from you and then tell you where it's at and tell you to come and get it. What thief does that?"
Owens' next door neighbor Dominicka Matlock said Owens came into her Jan Drive apartment and stole clothes, jewelry, a flat-screen TV and a Playstation 3, all with the help of two of her grandchildren, ages 13 and 11.
