PORT ORANGE, Florida (WESH) -- A growing beehive on the eave of an abandoned Port Orange, Florida home has neighbors in fear, but city officials said they can't act without a court order.
"I have a son-in-law who is highly allergic, so we were chasing them last Sunday when they were over," Barbara Schmidt said.
Schmidt lives next door to the abandoned home. Neighbors said the owner left the home trashed, overgrown and now dangerous with the massive hive.
The owner of the Lafayette Street home lives in Tampa. He started and then stopped a bankruptcy proceeding and the bank did not foreclose on the property. The home still belongs to him but so far, the owner won't take care of the growing bee problem.
