MOUNT WASHINGTON, New Hampshire (NEWS CENTER) -- Bicyclists in New Hampshire undertook one of the toughest hill climbs in the world... the Mount Washington Auto Road Bicycle Hillclimb.
Bikers rode 7.6 miles -- all uphill -- from start to finish.
The average grade of the slope is 12 percent... And the final stretch is 22 percent.
Winning for the men was Cameron Cogburn from Cambridge, MA; he finished in less than 53 minutes. In first place for the women was Marti Shea from Marblehead, MA; it took her an hour and three minutes to cross the tape.
People also competed on a tandem bicycle, and a Rhode Island man named Eric Sheer made the ascent on a unicycle!
