FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) -- Fall River police are looking for a man they say stuffed a backpack full of food at a city supermarket, walked out without paying, then stabbed a store worker who confronted him.
Police say they responded to a Stop and Shop last Friday evening.
The 38-year-old victim, a store security worker, and other employees told police that when he tried to stop the man who walked out without paying, he became combative, shoved the worker, then pulled a knife and stabbed him several times.
The worker was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with injuries not considered life threatening.
The Herald News reports that the suspect is described as a man in his mid 30s, thin and about 5-feet-6 to 5-feet-8 tall. He was caught on surveillance video.
