PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (AP) -- Police say a man walked away after being hit by a train in New Hampshire before officers located him nearly a mile away.
Portsmouth police tell the Portsmouth Herald an unidentified man was hit by a freight train Friday night in a wooded area off Route 33.
Patrolman Timothy McCain said the man walked away after being struck and didn't exchange any information with the train operator. Police found him a short time later walking along Route 33 near the Portsmouth/Greenland town line.
The man was taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
