Opponents to Maine marijuana legalization file recount request

Maine Secretary of State Matt Dunlap's office has publicly mentioned they have received recount requests in relation to citizen passed initiatives Question 1 and 2

Two citizen ballot initiatives get recount requests.

(NEWS CENTER) -- Close margins related to two of Maine's six citizen ballot initiatives (Question 1/2) have spurred opponents to formally request recounts via Maine Secretary of State Matt Dunlap's office.

Question 1, which in essence aimed to legalize marijuana cultivation and possession by adults over the age of 21, with certain restrictions, passed by 4,400 votes (including overseas absentee submissions).

The primary counter campaign No on 1/Not on my Maine Street has said: "With the tightness of the vote and the significance of this policy change, we feel strongly that a recount is the responsible thing to do," said Newell Augur, the No on 1 Campaign’s legal counsel and senior advisor.
