BREWER, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Competitors took to the Penobscot River for their final race on Sunday. For the last four days, racers have been competing in the Penobscot River Whitewater Nationals Regatta.
Around 300 people are taking part. On Sunday, many racers like Christy Stout competed in the 9.5 mile section.
"There are some rough patches. I avoided as many as I could, but there are some rough patches and some good drops and I did take on a little water, but I'm happy to say I did not swim. I had a great time," said Stout.
The paddle race started in Old Town and ended in Eddington. The race course includes huge rapids and quick water. For the competition results visit the webpage here.
